If you have an extensive makeup and jewelry collection, you may find yourself at a loss on how to move it all to your new destination. 1-800-PACK-RAT is here to help! Before you start packing all of your beauty and cosmetic items, take a look at our guide on how to move makeup and jewelry items to ensure you move your collection without causing any damage!
Part 1: Prevent Makeup Mishaps
Protect Your Makeup
You can protect your powder makeup by placing a cotton pad on top of the loose powder and closing the compact. Doing this will reduce the risk of breakage during the move.
Liquid Toiletries
Place all liquid toiletries into separate plastic zip bags to minimize clean up if one of your bottles leaks or breaks. You may also want to tape down bottle caps to ensure that they won't open while you're in transit.
Part 2: Transporting Necklaces
Jewelry Organizer
You can buy a jewelry organizer that can roll up for easy transportation, and can also hang on the wall once you are ready to view your jewelry.
Use Straws
Insert one end of a necklace through a bendy straw and clasp the necklace together. Securing the necklace this way will keep it from becoming entangled in itself or with other pieces.
Egg Cartons
Place a necklace into each space of an empty egg carton to give each piece a separate area.
Paper Towel Rolls
Place one end of a necklace through a toilet paper roll and clasp it together, so that the necklace hangs. You can do this with multiple necklaces to keep them from forming knots. Wrap bracelets around the roll for an even more functional use.
Part 3: Earring Solutions
Spare Buttons
Buttons can be an effective way to make sure that your pairs of earrings stay together and organized. Simply place the earrings through the holes on the buttons and then slide the back onto the earrings.
Styrofoam Plates
Styrofoam is useful for keeping your entire earring collection together. Insert the jewelry by poking your earrings through the plate.
Pill Box
If you have an extra pill box, use each compartment as a space to store each pair of earrings. Storing your earrings this way could even help you plan the jewelry you are going to wear each day.
