Whether it is local or long-distance, getting ready for a big move can be stressful and overwhelming. Most of us don’t realize how much we own until you have to pack it all up to move. But it doesn’t have to be a tedious experience.
Check out our favorite tips for making packing an easier part of your move:
1. Don’t procrastinate:
Packing doesn't have to wait until the day before your moving date. Get started well in advance by packing up all the things you do not need to use every day. If you are moving in the next couple of months in mid-summer, go ahead and box up your winter clothes. Your closet will be much more manageable to pack closer to the move with those bulky winter clothes already loaded.
2. Don't forget packing supplies:
Be sure to have enough boxes, packing tape and wrapping materials on hand for everyone helping you pack. The last thing you want to do is have your friends over helping and run out of supplies.
3. Don’t lose important parts and pieces:
When you disassemble a piece of furniture, a good tip is to place all the parts, such as screws or hinges, in a plastic bag. Label the bag and secure it to the underside of the furniture.
4. Don’t pack randomly:
Try to pack each room together. This will make unpacking after your move much smoother. It will also be easier to find something if you need it after it has been packed.
