Forward Freight Enters its 5th Year as a SmartWay Transport Partner

Wake Forest, NC (June 8, 2018) – Forward Freight, a division of 1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC and a service leader in domestic transportation solutions, has announced it has completed its 2017 emissions reporting with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) SmartWay® Transport Partnership, updating its SmartWay partner info for the next year. Partners are required to submit yearly performance data for review to ensure best practices are being met for sustainability objectives.

Since 2004, SmartWay has been a voluntary and cost-free program that works hand in hand with companies’ initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from freight transportation. The SmartWay Partnership includes over 3500 partners across the U.S. and Canada and leverages the expertise of freight experts to find new ways to lower the carbon footprint of the freight partners. By advancing supply chain sustainability and creating clear benchmarks, vehicles that are SmartWay certified consume significantly less fuel and create a lower amount of air pollutants than their counterparts.

“Forward Freight is proud to be a part of the EPA’s SmartWay Partnership for the fifth year in a row,” said Eric Masotti, Director of Logistics, Forward Freight. “Being part of the SmartWay program means that we are all constantly looking for new ways to make our transportation methods more environmentally friendly and sustainable. Our customers can rest assured that we are not only delivering their freight when and where it needs to be, but that we are doing it in a way that is helping the environment as well.”

The SmartWay Partnership provides tools and technology that helps track vehicle emissions to help reduce those emissions and lower fuel consumption. This includes operational strategies, data management tools, and verified technology support that is provided for each SmartWay partner.

“Forward Freight knows that partnering with SmartWay is good for business, people and the environment,” says Cheryl Bynum, U.S. EPA’s SmartWay Director, “By partnering with us, Forward Freight is demonstrating their commitment to sustainability through cleaner, lower carbon goods movement.”
