Cancel Autopays and Close Accounts: If you have any recurring charges associated with local businesses or utilities (think fitness clubs, yoga, electric), ensure that they have received adequate notice. Many require 30 days or more notice. As your moving day gets closer, you may wish to contact the local providers and ensure your accounts are closed or have a specific ending date noted on the account.
Change Your Address: Not only do you need to change your address with the post office, but you also need to start changing your address with everything associated with your work, credit card companies, insurance, etc. Try to compile a list of all the different places, companies, organizations, etc., that you will need to inform. The post office can also forward your mail for a year to help ensure your mail ends up in your mailbox.
Keep Your Vital Documents Handy: It’s easy to lose small things on the day of the move, so keep all your necessary documents, contracts, etc., within easy reach and in a single, clearly marked box or container. Add to this container vital documents that you may need if there is an emergency. Examples of these documents include passports, bank cards, directions, rental agreements, and pet vaccination records.
Clean the Appliances: During the hustle and bustle of last-minute tasks, it’s easy to forget to clean appliances. Refrigerators and microwaves are two of the appliances used right up until it’s time for you to leave. Make time to ensure the fridge is defrosted and cleaned. Don’t forget to leave the door open!

Whether the photo is in your garden, on the porch, or in front of the building, having that picture in the future will be a delightful memory.
